Announcing RemObjects Software 'Winter 2012" Release

12/12/2012 / SoftKey

Today we are happy to announce the immediate availability of the "Winter 2012" releases for our Data Abstract, RemObjects SDK and Hydra products.

With the previous release, and the major "7.0" milestone for RO/DA, just two months prior, this has been a short product cycle, so a major focus of this release has been bug fixes and small improvements, of which we have literally hundreds, across the products and platforms.

But that has not stopped us from also including a few brand new major features in this release, as well:

On the .NET side, Data Abstract and RemObjects SDK have been extended with full and official support for creating clients for Microsoft's new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 8. We have also taken the new Wizards for DA LINQ code generation shipped in the previous release, and applied the same nice and intuitive UI to generating and updating XSD-based apps, in our new XSD Wizard.

Server Explorer for Mac has gained the ability to do Live Script Debugging for JavaScript-based business rules scripts contained in Relativity Server — making it easier to test and debug your business rules in action. (Server Explorer for Mac is part of Data Abstract for Xcode, but also available standalone on the Mac App Store).

The RemObjects SDK for Java library has been extended with full support for Asynchronous Requests, and also has been improved for better support of secure communication using SSL.

Leaving the best to the end, this "Winter 2012" release also marks the first non-beta release of Data Abstract for Java, the latest addition to our platform portfolio.

Data Abstract for Java rounds off our product portfolio in two ways. On the one hand, after Oxygene for Java shipped last November and RemObjects SDK for Java released this spring, it brings our entire suite of Java products out of beta. On the other, next to its siblings for .NET, Xcode, Delphi and JavaScript, Data Abstract for Java closes the circle of Data Abstract now being represented on every major development platform in use today.

One major area where Java is interesting today is, of course, Android development, and with DA/J's help you are now in the position to create client applications for your data services for all of today's mobile device platforms, using a single multi-tier architecture.

As such, Data Abstract for Java completes a vision we have had for the product since its inception 10 years ago, and we are very excited to be able to share it with you, starting today.

As always, the new releases are available now, both as free 30-day trial editions at and as free upgrades for all users with an active Subscription.

If you don't own a copy yet, all out products are available on our secure online shop at For example, Data Abstract starts at $899 for a single platform edition, with attractive bundle prices for platform combos.

2012 has been a great year, and we are very excited about this new release, and especially Data Abstract for Java. We hope you are too, and we can't wait to see what you will build!
